Facebook is looking to make its Pages offering for businesses and publishers more interactive with the addition moving cover images.
The social network confirmed it is testing a feature that will allow page owners to use videos they have uploaded as cover images.
In a statement on the matter, the social giant said it was “always looking for ways to help businesses create more engaging experiences and drive more rich experiences for their audiences.”
“To do this, we’re testing the ability for pages to upload a cover video as the page cover,”
During its F8 developer conference earlier this months, Facebook announced that users can now transform their own static profile pictures into moving images via a number of third party apps.
What does that mean for the average company?
A lot! Glass Frog Digital have been fortunate enough to have had this facility for a while and we have been experimenting with different elements to grab the attention of the visitor. We are on version three of our cover page and reactions so far have been positive. The same applies to the avatar – although we have yet to change the business page, I have been playing with the image on my personal profile and have had mixed reactions!
Facebook have rolled the cover page out to a few of our clients so we have jumped on board with this and will soon be creating themed offer videos for the pages to correspond with the current marketing offers, so that would be something that could be worthwhile for you to explore on your own Business Page if it has been enabled.
In the realm of video we are on the verge of launching a really powerful marketing system using video and personal data – so keep your eyes peeled for this one; it will be a client-grabbing winner!
